Shady Maple Smorgasbord

The Challenge

Shady Maple asked us to develop a creative and engaging social media strategy and campaign to celebrate and promote Shady Maple Smorgasbord’s 35th Anniversary. Ultimately, our goal was to grow their presence and audience on Facebook and Instagram.

The Solution

We developed two separate but concurrent social media campaigns that would create brand buzz, driving engagement within the Facebook platform and growing their Followers for the Smorgasbord page.

The first contest aimed to drive fan engagement and excitement through an open Photo Sharing Contest with prizes. We developed a fully-realized contest, from concept through execution and optimization. We created prizes, a hashtag (#makingmemories), user targeting, and rules, as well as the required legal documentation. This contest focused on engaging existing fans and was promoted organically on Shady Maple’s Facebook page. Posts were boosted to ensure maximum reach. We also promoted the contest via sponsored placements on Instagram.

Our second contest was developed to increase followers and likes on Shady Maple Smorgasbord’s Facebook and Instagram pages through a Gift Card Giveaway. Again, we developed the giveaway from conception through the selection of winners. Unique creative was developed for the giveaway posts and promoted to prospects via Facebook and Instagram Sponsored Ads. We required contestants to like and tag friends to encourage page growth.

Both contests resulted in record-breaking performance and results for Shady Maple and were among their all-time best-performing campaigns.

The Results

  • The #MapleMemories Photo Sharing Contest reached 60K unique Facebook and Instagram users.
  • The #MapleMemories Photo Sharing Contest created enormous “brand buzz” by generating 8,497 unique engagements with the contest post, 1,100 photo entries, over 1,000 comments, and 342 Shares.
  • The Gift Card Giveaway grew followers for the Smorgasbord’s FB & IG pages by 4,000.
  • The Gift Card Giveaway generated over 3,500 Comments & 560 Shares, driving additional engagement with the brand through viral sharing by the people targeted by our campaign.
  • Both Social Media campaigns increased social media traffic to the Shady Maple website by 13,000 Visits YoY. Over 10,000 of these visits from Facebook were New Users to the site, generating thousands of potential new lifelong customers for Shady Maple.
